Graduation Photoshoot Q&A
When should graduation photos be taken?
The best time to take graduation pictures is typically the summer or early fall. This ensures you have your photos ready for yearbooks, graduation announcements, and keepsakes. Plus, the weather is usually nice, and outdoor locations are in full bloom.
What is a good price for graduation photos?
Graduation picture pricing varies depending on the photographer's experience, location, and package details. A basic session may start around $299, while premium sessions with multiple outfits, locations, and professionally edited images can range from $500 or more.
Where to take graduation photos in St. Louis?
St. Louis has plenty of beautiful spots for graduation pictures! Some popular locations include:
Forest Park – Lush gardens, bridges, and historic buildings
The Muny & Art Hill – Iconic backgrounds with open landscapes
Citygarden – Urban, modern vibe with sculptures and fountains
The Gateway Arch Grounds – Classic St. Louis landmark
Laumeier Sculpture Park – Unique artistic setting
Tower Grove Park – Vibrant greenery and Victorian pavilions
What is the best color to wear for graduation photos?
Neutral and solid colors tend to photograph best—think white, beige, navy, or earth tones. Jewel tones like emerald green, royal blue, or deep red also stand out beautifully. Avoid overly bright neons, distracting patterns, or logos to keep the focus on you.
Meet Your Graduation Photographer
I’m Mena Darré, and I understand this milestone on a personal level. Before stepping into photography full time, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and my master’s degree in Teaching from Lindenwood University. I know firsthand what it feels like to work toward a degree, push through challenging seasons, and finally reach the finish line.
Since 2017, I’ve helped graduates at every level celebrate this moment with portraits that feel confident, elevated, and true to who they are today — not just as students, but as professionals stepping into their next chapter.
This chapter matters. And I’d be honored to help you document it.
